Dr Green completed his medical degree in Tasmania before moving to the mainland to commence surgical training to become a General Surgeon. He finally settled in Brisbane for his advanced general surgical training that he completed in 2010 at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. He underwent post fellowship training in Breast and Endocrine Surgery in 2011 at the Mater Hospital and completed a second year as the Ramsay Health Breast and Endocrine Fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and North West Private Hospital.

Dr Green has an interest in complex thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disease. He also has a keen interest in breast cancer with a focus on maintaining. aesthetic outcomes post-surgery. He is a current board member of BreastSurgANZ and the current chair of the post fellowship training program in Breast surgery and course co-ordinator for the University Of Sydney Oncoplastic Masters course.
Dr Green currently holds positions of staff specialist Breast and Endocrine surgery at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. He is also a visiting surgeon to St Andrews War Memorial Hospital and St Vincent's Private Hospital and consults at these sites. Dr Green is also a visiting surgeon at North West Private Hospital.
