I am qualified in the fields of Medicine and Dentistry, specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. My surgery training encompassed craniofacial surgery, head and neck surgery, oral surgery, reconstructive surgery, trauma surgery, cosmetic surgery and dental surgery including dental implants. I have also undertaken extensive head and neck cancer surgery and cleft lip and palate surgery in South East Asia having worked in Malaysia for three years. I was an inaugural fellow of The Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery. In 1989 I pioneered free tissue transfer in the Australian National Capital with the first free, vascularised tissue transfer for tongue reconstruction, I hold Fellowships in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, England and Australia. I have extensive experience in gunshot wounds from my training in trauma surgery in New Orleans. I undertake teaching on a university basis as Director of The MaxilloFacial Unit at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
My recreational interests include golf and water sports. I enjoy camping and generally keep fit by training for marathons having done the New York, London, Berlin, Paris and 3 mountain marathons in New Zealand. Unfortunately the Hawaiaan Iron man is not within my grasp as I cannot ride a bike! I support the Sea Eagles and Socceroos but particularly like watching Manchester United and AC Milan on the tube.
