Dr Bernadette Brown is a specialist urogynaecologist who runs a busy private practice on the Gold Coast in South East Queensland. She offers a holistic treatment approach including a variety of conservative, medical and surgical treatment options for pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, voiding disorders and pelvic mesh complications.
Dr Brown completed her medical degree at the University of the Free State in South Africa. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in New Zealand and subsequently her additional urogynaecology training in Australia. During her subspecialty training, she completed fellowships at the Gold Coast University Hospital as well as the King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth. Dr Brown was instrumental in establishing the Queensland Pelvic Mesh Service at the Gold Coast University Hospital in 2018 and 2019. She currently holds a Visiting Medical Officer position at the Tweed Valley Hospital in Northern New South Wales.
Dr Brown believes it is important for all patients to feel comfortable with and confident in their treating specialist. She works closely with local endometriosis- and gynaecological oncology surgeons, as well as specialist women's health physiotherapists, urology and colorectal surgery colleagues to ensure the best outcome and recovery for all patients.
Outside of complex urogynaecology challenges, Dr Brown has a passion for pretty (and often quirky) shoes - be sure to catch a glimpse of these when you attend for your appointment!
