Dr Nipu Jayatilleke is an experienced Breast and General Surgeon . As a specialist surgeon, Dr. Jayatilleke views the surgical procedure itself as just one small part of the patient’s journey. She understands that getting to know her patients as individuals enables her to better appreciate what they and their loved ones are going through. She understands that clear communication (and keeping in touch with their GP) is a vital part of giving patients the expert and caring support they need at a challenging time.

After completing her training in surgery and attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr. Jayatilleke undertook a further two years of post graduate sub specialty training in Breast Oncoplastic Surgery, and Thyroid / Parathyroid Surgery, at the high volume centres of the Waikato Hospital in New Zealand, and the Breast Cancer Institute at Westmead Hospital in Sydney. She also completed a Master of Surgery degree specialising in Breast Cancer, at her alma mater, The University of Sydney, where she obtained her both her undergraduate degrees.
Dr. Jayatilleke is a staunch advocate for diversity and gender equity in surgery, and is an active member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, especially in the Younger Fellows Section and Women in Surgery section.
Her passion for educating the next generation of surgeons has seen her become the Deputy Director of the Surgical Skills Network at Sydney Southwest Local Health District, and the Site Director for Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She is also on faculty for teaching numerous courses for trainee surgeons through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
She holds VMO appointments at BreastScreen NSW in Camperdown and St.Leonards.
Dr. Jayatilleke is also a VMO at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, St.George Private Hospital, and Kareena Private Hospital.
