Dr. Cohen graduated from Sydney University Medical School in 2010 and was subsequently offered a position on the NSW Orthopaedic Training Program. He completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Orthopaedic Training Program in 2020. Dr. Cohen then undertook postgraduate training both locally and internationally. This included a fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the prestigious St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto Canada. This subspecialty training enabled him to further refine his skills in highly complex hip and knee replacement procedures. He is fellowship trained in multiple approaches to hip replacement including the minimally invasive anterior approach and the direct superior approach.
Dr. Cohen has also completed a robotic hip and knee joint replacement fellowship where he learned about patient specific planning and component placement based on individual patient anatomy.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Cohen has a strong interest in research and has previously completed a research based Masters of Science in Physiology. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed medical journals also presenting his research nationally and internationally. His research interests include alignment and balancing in knee replacement, day surgery joint replacement and recently the timing of surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Cohen has also been involved in quality improvement projects aimed at advancing post-operative patient care to better support recovery and pain management. Dr. Cohen is currently appointed at St. George Public, the Sutherland Hospital and Grafton Base Hospital as well as St. George Private and Kareena Private Hospital.
