Dr Shivram Nadkarni is an ophthalmologist with over three decades of experience. He undertook undergraduate studies and post-graduate training in Ophthalmology in the prestigious Bombay (now Mumbai) University. He is also recognised as an ophthalmologist by the National Board in New Delhi.
During his career Dr Nadkarni has undertaken advanced training in Cataract, Squint, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Medical Retina in All India Institute Of Medical Science in New Delhi, LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad (India), Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco, Singapore National Eye Centre, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Woman and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.
Dr Nadkarni relocated to Australia in 2018 to further his training and is now a Fellow of the Royal Australian and NZ College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr Nadkarni has a passion for teaching and has conducted many lectures for medical students, optometry students and ophthalmology trainees in India and Australia. He was voted the best teacher during a 4-day training program for ophthalmology trainees of Western India and has also been voted near the top by the ophthalmology trainees of Sydney Eye Hospital.
Dr Nadkarni is a member of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and its regional divisions, the Squint and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society of India (SPOSI), World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) and Australian Society of Ophthalmology (ASO).
Dr Nadkarni has performed over 10,000 cataract surgeries and 1000 squint surgeries in his career. He is surgically experienced in pterygium, glaucoma, eyelid surgeries as well as tear duct surgeries. He performs lasers for diabetics and glaucoma patients.
He is a Visiting Medical Officer in the John Hunter Hospital and operates out of John Hunter Hospital and Warners Bay Private Hospital.
He is fluent in a few Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Konkani and Gujrati. In his spare time he likes to ride bikes and catch up with friends.
