Are you coming to hospital for rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation programs provide the therapy, care and support needed to enable the highest level of independence (physically, psychologically and socially) to people with loss of function or ability due to injury, disease or following surgery.
At the time of admission into the rehabilitation program each patient in our care will be fully assessed by our multidisciplinary team, and the team will then work with you to establish an individualised therapy plan in order to achieve your goals.
Based on your plan, our rehabilitation team design and implement a program to enable you to achieve the highest level of independence in both the hospital setting and on return to home, work and leisure pursuits.
We have dedicated, specialist staff who provide a variety of individually tailored rehabilitation programs including:
- Orthopaedic (for example following a joint replacement, back surgery or a fracture)
- Reconditioning (for example following surgery or a recent fall)
- Neurological (for example after a stroke)
- Cardiac (for example following heart surgery or a heart attack)
- Pulmonary (for example an exacerbation of a chronic respiratory condition)
- Persistent Pain (when pain does not resolve following an incident or accident)
As Australia’s largest private hospital provider, Ramsay Health Care cares for approximately 20,000 Rehabilitation inpatients and 81,000 Day Patient admissions per year. Our clinical programs and patient outcomes are benchmarked though the Australasian Rehabilitation Outcome Centre and Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.
Our results consistently demonstrate that you can be confident in choosing Ramsay Health Care for your Rehabilitation needs.
Functional Independence Measure (FIM)
A Functional Independence Measure (FIM) rating is conducted by a qualified member of the rehabilitation team to determine each patient’s functional improvement, and therefore, the level of independence gained in activities of daily living. Progress in the areas of social interaction and psychological wellbeing is also measured.
A higher score on discharge indicates that the patient has achieved a higher level of improvement. Our results are compared to All Australian Hospitals.
Length of Stay (ALOS)
We work to get the best improvement for you in the most timely fashion.
A lower Length Of Stay indicates that we have been able to support you to reach your goals faster, compared to All Australian Hospitals.
