Ramsay Pharmacy
launches ‘The Script’
newsletter
Ramsay Pharmacy has launched its first official newsletter which
features interesting news and updates from retail stores and their
communities. It also contains information about incentives, new
products and relevant industry news to keep team members in
the loop about all things pharmaceutical.
Before distributing the first edition, Ramsay Pharmacy ran a competition for teams
to name the publication.
Ramsay Pharmacy CEO Greg Kennedy said it was fantastic to receive about 270
submissions from teams across the country.
“We really wanted to adopt a grass-roots approach for this newsletter – to create a
publication that is ‘by our people, for our people’. So it was wonderful to see all of
our team members engaging in the process and having an enthusiastic response
to the naming competition,” Mr Kennedy said.
The winning name, ‘The Script’, was submitted by two teams: Ramsay Pharmacy
Taylor Centre and Ramsay Pharmacy Park Avenue.
Both stores won a $500 Visa gift voucher to be spent on a team activity.
Mr Kennedy said he encouraged all pharmacy sites to send in any stories that
they would like to share or celebrate with their colleagues in future editions.
Ramsay Pharmacy stocks weight loss shakes to support bariatric patients
Ramsay Pharmacy has launched Formulite weight loss shakes and soups in nine of its pharmacies, to help support patients before and after bariatric surgery in the Very
Limited Energy Diet (VLED) meal plan segment.
The Formulite meal replacement shakes include 70 per cent more protein and 65 per cent less
sugar than meal replacement shakes that are currently in the market.
Ramsay Pharmacy’s General Manager Operations, Michelle Lynch, said dietitians and bariatric
surgeons who worked with Ramsay were supportive of the new range.
Noosa Hospital bariatric surgeon Dr Garth McLeod said the latest research from the Australian
Institute of Health and Welfare showed one in three Australians are obese, compared to one in
five in 1995.
“With two in three adult Australians now in the overweight/obese category, the ‘average’
person is now statistically overweight rather than a healthy weight.”
Dr McLeod said more than 22,700 weight loss surgeries were performed in 2014–15,
compared to just 9,300 in 2006, making this surgery one of the fastest growing types
in Australia.
Formulite CEO Glennis Winnett says the Melbourne-based company is delighted to partner
with Ramsay as it is another Australian company which started small and has grown from
strength to strength.
Ramsay Pharmacy stores which are stocking the shakes are: Wollongong, St George,
Westmead, North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Greenslopes, John Flynn, Peninsula and Cairns.
Amazing race for Cairns Pharmacy Manager
A Ramsay pharmacy manager has swapped prescriptions for plane trips, as a contestant in the new season
of TV show “The Amazing Race”.
Cairns Group Pharmacy Manager Hayley Foruria joined forces
with her younger sister Mikayla to compete against ten other
teams from around Australia for $250,000 in prize money.
Ms Foruria said: “I loved the adventure of not knowing
where we were flying to the next day and the challenges
we had to complete.”
The duo travelled across three continents and competed
in a myriad of challenges, which tested their relationship as
sisters, as well as their mental and physical capabilities.

Ms Foruria said her experience in managing pharmacies
for Ramsay Health Care helped her to cope with some of
the situations.
“It assisted me in staying calm in stressful scenarios and in
being able to multitask during the different challenges we
were presented with,” she said.
