New day surgery unit
opens at Nambour
Selangor Private Hospital
A $500,000 refurbishment has transformed Nambour Selangor
Private Hospital on the Sunshine Coast.
The newly completed day surgery unit includes pre and post-surgical areas for
patients who require minor procedures.
Nambour Selangor Private Hospital CEO Sandra Moore said: “We’re really
providing best outcomes, best practice, and best care models for our community
and surrounding regions.”
As many as 50 patients per week will benefit from the new day surgery unit, which
will be used for specialties including gastroenterology, dental, arthroscopy, pain and
minor procedures.
A decision was made to create the unit to cater for ongoing technological advances
which are allowing more procedures to be done in a shorter period of time.
“For instance, patients undergoing a hernia procedure historically stayed for one to
three nights, but patients now undergoing this treatment can be discharged on the
same day,” Ms Moore said.
The refurbishment also included transforming two rooms with four inpatient beds
to create four single rooms to provide added comfort for patients.
The elevated walkway over South Street at Kogarah will also create a new link to the
St George Hospital precinct and campus.
The bridge is currently being manufactured and installation is expected to begin in late July.
The level 4 slab of the specialist consulting suites has been poured, with the façade
installation commencing in late May and the building top-out schedule for mid-June.
Multi-million-dollar boost
for mental health services
at Dudley Private Hospital
Plans for a multi-million-dollar expansion at Dudley Private
Hospital have been approved by Orange City Council.
The $6.8 million project will include the construction of a new mental
health ward, comprising of 26 patient rooms, three consulting rooms,
a gym, group session space, courtyard and dining area.
The new ward will have separate driveway access and a carpark with
10 additional parking bays to ensure convenience for patients and visitors.
Dudley Private Hospital has been offering mental health care since
2007, but the expansion will cater for an increasing demand for services.
The new ward also creates additional capacity for Ramsay’s national
mental health network which is made up of 25 mental health units and
more than 1000 beds.
The redevelopment will include changes to the existing hospital
building; a small extension to the surgical ward will include 4 new
single patient rooms.
Shared rooms throughout the hospital will be converted to single rooms,
bringing the total number of beds to 79.
Minor alterations will be made to the dining room near the front entrance
of the building to provide extra comfort for patients at meal times.
The hospital has been caring for local residents since 1915 and has been
located at its current site for four decades.
