MILESTONE FOR SUNSHINE COAST UNIVERSITY PRIVATE –
FIRST CARDIAC SURGERY CASE
Just four years after opening and after two years of
planning, the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital
has made history performing the Sunshine Coast’s first
ever cardiac surgical case.
Prior to this, patients needing this life-changing surgery would have
to travel to Brisbane. Several procedures have now been successfully
completed by the team since the first case in November by the
hospital’s team of four cardiac surgeons, Drs Douglas Wall, Robert
Tam, Trevor Fayers and Homayoun Jalali.
Dr Wall told the Sunshine Coast Daily after the first surgery that it had
been a “good start”. “Now patients can have the same surgery offered
in Brisbane.
It is a huge positive for patients and their families and we are very
proud to bring this advanced health service to the Coast.”
Hospital CEO, Oliver Steele, paid tribute to the dedication of the team
and the Hospital’s hardworking staff in making this possible.
“This has truly been a team effort with nearly all departments across
the hospital working together to ensure the successful start of our
cardiac surgery program. We are delighted that this is another
milestone in the range of private services the Sunshine Coast
University Private Hospital offers to private patients and a great
outcome for the Sunshine Coast community,” Oli said.
The hospital’s Cardiac Surgical service took several months of intense
work including gaining regulatory approval and is part of the hospital’s
strategy to expand the range of services available to private patients
on the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay region.

Ramsay Pharmacy is set to open its new
Melbourne CBD flagship store.
Located in the Brookfield Centre, the new store will be open
7 days a week when it starts trading in January 2018. In
addition to offering a full line retail pharmacy, it will also offer a
number of clinical pharmacy services and will feature a
Wellness Centre located on the mezzanine level including
consulting rooms.
CEO of Ramsay Pharmacy Peter Giannopoulos said the new
flagship store would showcase the Ramsay Pharmacy brand.
“This flagship pharmacy location is a culmination of several
months of planning and construction and includes design
elements which are a result of recent market research
undertaken on behalf of Ramsay Pharmacy,” Peter said. “The
Ramsay Pharmacy team workshopped the store designs
and retail concepts extensively which have resulted in some
unique and professional retail finishes.
“The Ramsay Pharmacy franchise model presents
pharmacists with an opportunity to provide expert pharmacy
services within a retail pharmacy which reveres the value of
the clinical and professional pharmacy services offered by
trained team members within the retail pharmacy setting’.
Other services available through the pharmacy will include
medication management aids, comprehensive medication
information, assistance with medical aids and appliances,
and will be accredited as an authorised agent of the
National Diabetes Services Scheme.
