NATIONAL SAFETY
2017 Report released
The Ramsay National Safety team have released the FY17
Annual Report. The report is also loaded onto our NST Intranet
for all workers to access should they wish to. This year’s report
contains the NST KPI’s which all showed positive performance.
The report also covers all the WHS dedicated activities that
have occurred in FY17 across the group and highlights the
focus on safety that occurs every day in Ramsay.
The National Safety Team has also released the National Safety Guidelines
Manual (NSGM) – Edition 3.
The guidelines are supported with numerous associated appendices (166 in
total) that facilities can adopt to assist them manage work health and safety.
All resources are available on the intranet.
If you have any questions about the NSGM speak to your facility Safety
Professional or place a query on either the NST InfoDesk or the NST
Discussion Board & FAQ’s, both available on the Safety and Workers
Compensation intranet page.
The National Safety Team has recently completed RNAT-S V2.0 audits at
74 facilities after a mammoth 27 month program which commenced
at Beleura Private Hospital and finisted at Peel Health Campus.
The audit focused on six key areas of the RHC safety management
system. Given the scope of the audit facilities were asked to present a
range of evidence pre-audit prior to a one day visit from a member of the
NST who are all qualified auditors.
Overall, the NST are pleased with the results with the majority of facilities
improving since the RNAT-S V1.0 was undertaken. Where gaps were
identified, the NST are working with facilities to assist them to improve their
Safety Systems.
The program is now in the review phase with the NST following up on the
progress of the implementation of actions.

GREENSLOPES WORKERS SHOW GIVING IS
BEST CHRISTMAS MEDICINE
Christmas was brighter for 135 children, 64 mothers and 22 fathers, who received
thousands of presents donated by hundreds of employees from Greenslopes
Private Hospital.
Nurses, cleaners, cooks, midwives, receptionists, builders and administration workers were
among the staff and contractors who worked together to create Christmas gift hampers for a
record 65 disadvantaged Queensland families.
Presents included bikes, toys, gift vouchers, household products, food, clothing, and games.
There were also an additional seven food hampers created for single adults or couples.
“On collection day the hospital foyer was absolutely brimming with presents; it was a truly
amazing sight to see the generosity of the Greenslopes team in action,” said CEO Chris Went.
This was the 19th year in a row that the hospital was involved in the Christmas Appeal in
partnership with St Vincent de Paul.
Nurse Unit Manager Cath Stewart said some of the children who open these presents have
never seen so many gifts before.
“Christmas can be a difficult time of the year for many so it was wonderful that we could help to
make it a special day for more than 220 people this festive season,” said Ms Stewart.
Trucks, utes and trailers were used to transport the Christmas hampers to St Vincent de Paul,
where they were sorted and distributed to the corresponding local families.
