$9 million boost for Port Macquarie Kareena opens new theatre Hunters Hill undergoes major upgrade The Ramsay Way - 2014 | 03 3 PORT MACQUARIE PRIVATE HOSPITAL WILL SHORTLY OPEN ITS $4M UPGRADE & EXTENSION OF THE REHABILITATION UNIT INCLUDING A BRAND NEW HYDROTHERAPY POOL & THE HOSPITAL HAS RECENTLY RECEIVED COUNCIL APPROVAL FOR TWO ADDITIONAL OPERATING THEATRES. Work on the rehabilitation unit started last year and take the form of a new hydrotherapy pool, single accommodation patient rooms, extended gymnasium and multipurpose rooms. Construction is set to be completed this October. Hospital CEO Paul Geddes said the other project for which development application was approved in July, comprised an additional two operating theatres at the rear of the hospital. “That project is worth approximately $5m and work will start in October and go through to July 2015,” Paul said. He said Ramsay Health Care had identified Port Macquarie as a growth area and the extensions and improvements were designed to cater for increased demand for private health services into the future. “There is a real buzz of anticipation about the new facilities and we are looking forward to it being completed.” In the meantime he thanked staff and patients for their patience and construction workers for doing their absolute best to minimise noise and inconvenience. Port Macquarie Private is currently a 69 bed facility providing a wide range of surgical and medical specialties. It was established 30 years ago. A BRAND NEW OPERATING THEATRE RECENTLY OPENED AT KAREENA PRIVATE HOSPITAL WILL PROVIDE ENHANCED SERVICES FOR THE SUTHERLAND SHIRE COMMUNITY. New surgeons at Kareena Private Hospital will now offer additional surgical procedures, from spinal surgery to eye procedures, to compliment the already comprehensive range of specialties and procedures at the hospital. Nearing completion of a $20 Million renovation, Kareena Private Hospital’s brand new state-of-the-art operating theatre is equipped with sophisticated medical imaging technologies. The new theatre brings the total number of theatres to six and is complete with top of the range eye microscopes, Phaco machines for cataract surgeries and a new Stryker i-suite. Recently commenced Hospital CEO Steve Rajcany said the new theatre was a welcome addition to the hospital and the hospital was looking forward to the opening of its $20 million development. “This major development will transform Kareena Private Hospital into a modern 139 bed facility and include the introduction of a brand new 36 bed wing,” Steve said. The development will also include a new eight bed Intensive Care Unit and new onsite medical suites. The hospital also recently reopened its maternity ward with all single renovated maternity rooms and three deluxe parenting suites. Hunters Hill Private Hospital has recently undergone a major upgrade with patients now enjoying state-of-the-art accommodation in 35 single rooms. Rehabilitation facilities and the common areas were also updgraded during the four month renovations. DEVELOPMENTS
