The Ramsay Way 2016 | 02 23 FUN AND FITNESS Hawaiian Ride for Youth In April this year, Hollywood Private Hospital’s CEO, Peter Mott, participated in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth’s CEO Challenge. Peter rode 80km from Mandurah to Perth alongside other CEOs and personally raised over $7,000 in the process. The CEO challenge is part of the annual Hawaiian Ride for Youth which has become one of Australia’s premier charity events. The ride raised funds for Youth Focus, a not-for profit organisation working to stop youth suicide. The main event is held over five days and sees riders travel over 700 kms from Albany to Perth. Along the way, participants visit high schools in Western Australia’s South-West, Great Southern and Wheatbelt areas where they engage with students about issues of youth suicide, depression and self-harm, and discuss the services Youth Focus provides. The CEO challenge enables CEOs to ride the final leg alongside the full peloton and cross the finish line in Kings Park.  Pro-Surfer’s Breast Cancer Crusade Pro-Surfer, Julian Wilson, showed his support for breast cancer awareness recently by inviting some of the children and grand-children of John Flynn Private Hospital cancer patients for a surfing lesson at Greenmount Beach in Coolangatta. He put so many smiles on the children's faces, as many of them experienced the thrill of catching a wave for the first time. Julian is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the cause is close to his heart with his mother, Nola, a breast cancer survivor. Nola spent time during her cancer treatment at Ramsay hospitals including John Flynn Private Hospital.  Pindara doctors Sam Dowthwaite, Ben Walters and Matthew Hartley ranked third in the Australian Super Main Race Mens Overall category, as well as first in the Healthcare and Medical Industry results. Lloyd Hill, Michael Moore and Michele Walters ranked third in the Healthcare and Medical Industry results, and Dr Allison Sprague, Dr Sarah Goetz and Rachael Hayek ranked second in the female category. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the teamwork, comradery, celebrations, blood/sweat/tears, and FUN. Ramsay’s St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital also competed in the Australian Super Corporate Triathlon held at the Gold Coast on Saturday 30th April 2016. This year 12 eager triathletes swam, ran and cycled their way to the finish line.  Hollywood CEO Peter Mott rides in Hawaiian Ride for Youth. St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Triathlon Team.
