Services overview
Ramsay Health Plus offers a comprehensive range of allied health services. Here is a general guide to some of the most common. Click the plus sign (+) on the right-hand side of any heading to learn more.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy uses manual therapies such as remedial massage, as well as exercise and education, to treat and attempt to prevent pain, injuries and disability. If you have surgery, your doctor might recommend physiotherapy to support your recovery. Physiotherapy is also used to treat everyday muscle strain and pain, as it can help you build your flexibility and strength.
Exercise physiology
Exercise physiology studies your body’s response to physical activity in order to diagnose, manage and treat a range of health conditions, especially chronic disease. It’s often recommended after major surgery (such as heart and lung operations) to assist in rehabilitation and safely returning to exercise.
Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy is a treatment and rehabilitation method that can help you get back to everyday life and work after an injury, disability or illness. It’s a broad service that can support you in many areas, including life skills education and getting started with adaptive equipment.
Dietetics
Dietetics is the science of how food and nutrition affect your health.
A qualified dietitian can help you understand how to make informed food choices that support your wellbeing. Dietitian support can be helpful at any stage of life — but it’s especially valuable if you’re living with, or at risk of, conditions such as diabetes, food allergies, weight concerns, cancer, heart disease, digestive or gastrointestinal issues, or chronic illnesses.
Whether you’re managing a condition or just want to feel your best, a dietitian can work with you to develop a personalised plan that suits your health needs and lifestyle.
Speech pathology
Speech pathology focuses on diagnosing and treating difficulties with speech, language, voice, literacy and swallowing. It can help people affected by stroke, brain injury, dementia, cerebral palsy, or those with a stutter or speech delay – including children. Support is tailored to your needs, helping you communicate more confidently and safely.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy involves supervised exercise in warm water to help relieve pain, improve movement and build strength. It’s a gentle, low-impact therapy often used alongside other treatments to support recovery, improve balance and increase flexibility.
Diabetic education
Diabetes education can help people with diabetes, or at risk of developing diabetes, gain the knowledge, skills, motivation and confidence to manage their condition. It can cover a range of topics, including diabetes-friendly diets, safe exercise, medication options, and learning how to use a monitoring device.
