Dr Abhijit Kolla lives in Cairns with his young family and two children and is excited to build a long-term career serving the Far North Queensland community. He is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based cardiovascular care while embracing the latest advances in interventional and structural heart disease.
Dr Kolla is a Cardiologist, with an interest and training in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart procedures. (International training across India, New Zealand, and the United States). He completed his cardiology training in New Zealand before undertaking an Advanced Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Ohio, USA, a leading high-volume centre for complex coronary and structural heart interventions.
Dr Kolla has experience in complex and high-risk coronary intervention, including left main and bifurcation PCI, chronic total occlusion (CTO) intervention, coronary physiology, IVUS, OCT, rotational atherectomy, and intravascular lithotripsy, as well as experience in structural heart interventions, serving as primary operator for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), mitral and tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER and T-TEER), left atrial appendage occlusion (Watchman), and PFO/ASD closure.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Kolla is actively involved in clinical research and has contributed as a sub-investigator in several international cardiovascular trials. He is passionate about delivering personalised, evidence-based care and building lasting relationships with his patients and referring doctors throughout Far North Queensland.
