After Graduatinhg in 2002, Dr Ahmad Zakariyya moved to the UK to complete his internal medicine training, earning membership with the Royal College of Physicians in 2007. He then relocated to Australia where he completed his physician training at Gold Coast Hospital and cardiology training at Western Health in Melbourne. Following this he pursued advanced interventional and structural heart disease training, including TAVI at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand.
Dr Zakariyya has also contributed to humanitarian efforts in Pakistan, working as a cardiologist at a regional referral cardiac centre. There he played a key role in quality improvement initiatives including developing the structural interventional program, establishing hospital protocols and training medical staff. He later joined the NHS in the UK, serving as a consultant interventional cardiologist at Northern Devon and District NHS Trust, Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Hospitals HNS Foundation Trust. In these roles he provided coronary intervention and cardiac CT services while gaining extensive experience in managing high-risk coronary syndromes and congenital heart disease.
Dr Zakariyya is widely published and has presented his research at national and international conferences. His clinical interests include stable and acute coronary syndromes, structural and valvular heart diseases, cardiomyopathies and adult congenital heart diseases.
Dr Zakariyya is consulting from Shepparton Private Hospital monthly.
He also consults from Northern Private Hospital and Warringal Private hospital as well as at Advara Heat Care in Bundoora.
