Dr. Ahmed Rahman is a committed and compassionate Specialist General Surgeon with sub-specialised training in Colorectal, Upper-GI and Trauma. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
Dr. Rahman is keen to offer patient centred care. He offers services in all General Surgical Cases including Gallbladder surgery, Hernia Surgery, Colorectal surgery (haemorrhoids/fissure/fistulas), Skin lesion excision and is fully accredited by Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) in endoscopy (Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy). He has completed his MBBS from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his specialty training FRACS in General Surgery. He has undertaken an additional 2 years of post Fellowship training in Macquarie University Hospital (Gastrointestinal- Colorectal and UGI) and St George Hospital (Trauma and General Surgery). He now consults at Baringa Private Hospital.
Residency:
Before gaining entry into fellowship training in general surgery, Dr. Rahman had undergone training as intern, resident and registrar in overseas (Bangladesh and UK) and unaccredited surgical trainee rotating through Westmead Hospital, Auburn Hospital, Bankstown Hospital, St George Hospital, Sutherland Hospital, Wollongong Hospital, Shellharbour Hospital and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital with the balance of urban and rural experience highlighted differences in practice based on local demographics, resources and sometimes clinical care tailored to individual based on culture and the specific needs of the patient.
Accredited Training:
Dr. Rahman underwent specialist surgical training in general surgery in NSW. This was through Southern network. He has worked in Liverpool Hospital, Albury & Wodonga Hospital, Coffs Harbour Hospital, Campbelltown Hospital, Fairfield Hospital and St George Hospital. Dr. Rahman had rotated through different terms and subspecialties including General Surgery, Colorectal, Upper Gastrointestinal, Acute Surgical Unit, Breast and Endocrine.
Fellowship years:
Dr. Rahman worked at Macquarie University Hospital as Surgical Fellow (General Surgery, Colorectal, UGI). This was an opportunity to further consolidate general surgical skills. He worked at St George Hospital as Surgical Fellow (Trauma and General Surgery).
Committed to staying at the forefront of surgical advancements, Dr. Rahman regularly participates in continuing medical education and is affiliated with Grafton Base Hospital and Baringa Private Hospital, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care using the latest techniques and technology.
