Dr Alex Craven

Dr Alex Craven is a General Surgeon with clinical interests in obesity and upper gastrointestinal surgery. He provides consultation and surgery through Advanced Surgical and Darebin Weight Loss Surgery and also works in the Obesity and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Unit at the Austin Hospital.

Alex works privately at Warringal Private Hospital and the Victorian Day Procedure Centre-all located in Heidelberg.

Alex studied medicine at the University of Queensland and trained in general surgery at the Austin and Northern Hospitals through the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS), before completing post-fellowship training in obesity surgery and upper gastrointestinal surgery.

Dr Alex Craven is most passionate about working with patients to control obesity and its related diseases, in order to live longer, healthier lives. Through Darebin Weight Loss he can provide co-ordinated multidisciplinary obesity care - including supervised lifestyle intervention and obesity medication, as well as surgery.
