Dr Alfred Wong is a Cardiologist and General Physician with a clinical focus in Interventional Cardiology. Originally from Hong Kong, he relocated to Australia in 2022. For the past two years, Alfred has been based in Canberra undertaking dual training in Cardiology and General Medicine to attain his FRACP.
Trained in Hong Kong and Copenhagen, Dr Wong has extensive experience in both coronary and structural heart interventions. He has held senior leadership roles, including Director of Structural Heart Interventions at Tuen Mun Hospital in Hong Kong and Chairperson of the Interventional Working Group at The Canberra Hospital (TCH). His clinical repertoire spans advanced procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO), complex coronary interventions and conduction system pacing including left bundle branch pacing.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Wong has been deeply involved in teaching and academic medicine. He has served as Clinical Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University (ANU), Training Director at TCH and Education Supervisor for cardiology trainees under Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). His research has been published in leading journals such as JACC and EuroIntervention and he continues to contribute as an editorial board member for multiple peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Wong is regularly invited to share his expertise on the international stage. Most recently, he delivered a lecture at the Global Congress on Cardiology 2025 in Kyoto, Japan, presenting on the "Percutaneous retrieval of an embolized amulet device from the left atrium in a patient with previous MitraClips".
