Clinical Practice

Dr Amanda Thomas is a Specialist Gastroenterologist who has a main focus in inflammatory bowel disease, transition care of young adults with chronic gastrointestinal diseases, functional bowel conditions, coeliac disease, iron deficiency anaemia and bowel cancer screening. She has conjoint recognition for endoscopy as well as additional training in intestinal ultrasound and clinical nutrition.

Dr Thomas offers a clinic and endoscopy service at Hollywood Private Hospital and she also has a public hospital appointment at Fiona Stanley Hospital working as a consultant with the inflammatory bowel disease team. Amanda coordinates the IBD Transition Clinic between Perth Children’s Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Background & Training

Dr Amanda Thomas obtained her medical degree from the University of Western Australia in 2009. She completed basic physician training at Fremantle Hospital in 2014 followed by advanced training in gastroenterology in Sydney at Royal Prince Alfred, Sydney Children’s, Concord General Repatriation and Bankstown Lidcombe Hospitals.

She then completed a 12 month overseas fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in the UK.
