About

Dr. Amir Zangiabadi is a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Physician with an interest in Interventional Pulmonology. He currently holds a public appointment in respiratory medicine at Frankston Hospital.

He obtained his fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016, undertaking training in respiratory medicine at Flinders Medical Centre and The Royal Adelaide Hospital, followed by a fellowship in intensive care medicine at Monash Medical Centre.

He gained further experience in the field of lung cancer and pleural disease during a clinical fellowship in interventional pulmonology at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, United Kingdom.

He has an interest in all respiratory disorders and is adept in the management of patients with a broad mix of respiratory conditions including chronic cough, asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung disease. He has a clinical focus on lung cancer and pleural disease with skills in minimally invasive methods of diagnosing and staging lung cancer, and management of pleural infection and malignancies.

He performs diagnostic chest ultrasound, chest drain insertion, bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), local anaesthetic video thoracoscopy, and indwelling pleural catheter insertions for management of refractory pleural effusions.

Dr Zangiabadi is Iranian and speaks both English and Farsi.
