Dr Amy Whittaker

Dr Amy Whittaker is a consultant Paediatrician who is passionate about caring for children and their families.  As a mother she understands the stress and anxiety associated with concerns about a child’s health, development or wellbeing. She works collaboratively with families and other professionals to provide individualised patient-centered care.

Dr Whittaker gained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Child Health in the UK. She then went on to attain her MRCPCH before moving to Australia in 2007 and completing her FRACP qualification. Amy worked within the Sydney Children’s Hospital network for 7 years both as a trainee and a consultant general paediatrician. Whilst in Sydney she was a conjoint lecturer with the University of New South Wales. She understands the importance of evidenced based medicine and has completed research which has been presented at international conferences and published in the medical literature. In addition to her general paediatric training she has undertaken a fellowship in community and developmental child health.
 
Amy provides paediatric care for newborns, children and adolescents. Her interests range from managing general paediatric complaints such as asthma, constipation and feeding issues to developmental and behavioural concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD. She is committed to supporting families of children who have complex needs, ensuring their care is well coordinated and they are able to access the services they need.
