About
Dr Anthony Freeman is a Specialist Vascular Surgeon, with subspecialty expertise in endovascular surgery based in Cairns, providing comprehensive care for patients with arterial, venous and dialysis access conditions. He offers an integrated service across Cairns Private Hospital and Cairns Hospital & Hinterland Health Service (CHHHS), ensuring timely access to care for both private and public patients.
A key focus of Dr Freeman’s practice is the delivery of modern, minimally invasive vascular care, including ambulatory venous treatments performed in rooms where appropriate. This allows many patients to be treated efficiently with minimal disruption, while maintaining seamless access to private and public hospital-based care when required.
Dr Freeman provides a collaborative, GP-focused service with an emphasis on prompt assessment, clear communication, and streamlined patient pathways. His practice is supported by on-site specialist vascular ultrasound, enabling rapid diagnosis and, where appropriate, same-visit clinical decision-making.
Dr Freeman completed his undergraduate training at the University of Otago before relocating to Australia. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS – Vascular Surgery) and has extensive experience in both metropolitan and regional vascular practice. He relocated to Cairns to support the delivery of high-quality vascular care across Far North Queensland.
