About
Dr Anthony Sams is a Psychiatrist who completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Newcastle, NSW. He completed training in Psychiatry in Sydney and has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists since 2001.
In addition to his psychiatric qualification, in 2002 Dr Sams was awarded Fellowship in the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians).
Dr Sams has worked in both public and private mental health sectors, working primarily in the sub-speciality of Addiction Psychiatry. He is a Senior Staff Specialist Psychiatrist in Addiction Medicine, Royal North Shore Hospital NSW.
Dr Sams has been the Medical Director of the Drug and Alcohol Programs at Ramsay Cinic Northside, and Ramsay Clinic Wentworthville from 2007-2017.
Treatment Services
- In-patient Detoxification and Rehabilitation.
- Assessment for psychiatric comorbid conditions, commencement or referral for further treatment.
- Assessment and advice for inpatients regarding suitable anti-craving medication.
- Group therapy for hospitalised patients.
- Dr Sams has a particular interest in treating comorbid Anxiety Disorders with Addictions, and the use of medication treatments for Alcohol Use disorders.
Additional Services
- Outpatient group therapy within the Ramsay Clinic Northside for patients maintaining recovery from addiction.
