Dr Aye San

Dr Aye San is a Nephrologist practicing in a broad range of kidney diseases and their related areas. After graduating from the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar, in 2007, she underwent post-graduate and specialist training in mutiple hospitals in Queensland. 

Her training also took place in interstate hospitals, including The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. 

Dr San holds a dual specialist Fellowship in Nephrology and adult general medicine. She has also completed further training to obtain The Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine to enrich her skills in kidney supportive care. 

Her interests include kidney supportive care, chronic kindey disease, diabetic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and management of long-term kidnely transplant recipients. During Dr San's training at the Royal Price Alfred Hospital, she also gained additional expereince in managing hypertension in pregnancy. 

Her research publications have focused on cognitive impairment in advanced kidney disease and the role of inflammation in cardiovascular risks associated with chronic kidney disease, 

Dr San believes in achieving the best patient outcomes by empowering the patient's involvement in their kidney health- and by prioritising their values and the quality of life.
