Clinical Practice
Dr Balvinder Handa is a Consultant Cardiologist with a focus in electrophysiology. Balvinder has expertise in the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disorders and cardiac devices. His practice encompasses advanced electrophysiology alongside comprehensive general cardiology care. His areas of expertise include catheter ablation of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation; implantation of cardiac devices such as pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) devices; lead extractions; and complex vascular access and venoplasty. He also has extensive experience in echocardiography and in the diagnosis and management of inherited cardiac conditions.
Dr Handa is committed to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care. After qualifying as a consultant in the United Kingdom, Dr Handa relocated to Perth and now works across both the public and private healthcare sectors. He holds a public appointment at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and undertakes his private practice at Hollywood Private Hospital.
Background and Training
Dr Handa undertook his undergraduate medical training and later completed a PhD at Imperial College London, UK. He completed his general cardiology training followed by a three-year fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Devices at Hammersmith Hospital, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is also actively involved in medical education and is a Clinical Lecturer / Clinical Tutor at the University of Notre Dame Medical School.
