Background and Training
Born and raised in Western Australia, Brendan spent his early years across several regional and metropolitan centres, including Karratha, Kalgoorlie, Perth and Bunbury. He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia before undertaking internship and residency training at Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Brendan moved to Sydney to undertake advanced training in Medical Oncology, spending five years at Royal North Shore Hospital. During this time, he gained experience in the treatment of a broad range of cancers within both inpatient and outpatient settings and was involved in the delivery of systemic cancer therapies and multidisciplinary cancer care. Following completion of his oncology training, Brendan returned to Western Australia to continue his clinical practice closer to family and to contribute to cancer care within the local community. He now combines clinical oncology practice with an ongoing interest in breast cancer research and evidence-based cancer treatment.
