Dr Brian Jacobs

Dr Brian Jacobs is an experienced and compassionate senior psychiatrist who is now in full time private practice, having worked as a specialist for more than 11 years in the Sunshine Coast Mental Health and Addiction Service (MHAS).

Brian specialised in psychiatry in London where he obtained advanced training certificates (CCT’s) in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry and pursued special interests in Individual Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Brian also has interests in Cognitive Assessment, Complex Trauma recovery and workplace issues including bullying.  He attends Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with the Sunshine Coast Peer Review Group.

Brian has a particular interest in psychotherapeutic treatment that is informed by holistic (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) mental health assessment and recovery management that incorporates evidence based treatments.

Brian is comfortable assessing and managing most mental disorders in patients older than 18 years of age, but does not see patients with mainly forensic issues.
