Dr Candice Silverman

Dr Candice Silverman is a General Surgeon with interests and training focused on Upper GI/HPB Surgery, Hernia, and Obesity Surgery. She works across the Queensland and New South Wales state borders operating at John Flynn Private Hospital, The Tweed Hospital for Northern NSW Area Health Service. Dr Silverman focuses on minimally invasive surgical procedures with a love and passion for robotic surgery.  She has recently published a book chapter on Robotic Bariatric Surgery in the 2^nd Edition of “Obesity and Diabetes: Scientific Advances and Best Practice”. She is considered a national leader in robotic foregut surgery, proctoring other surgeons in robotic technology  in both Australia and Singapore and talking at national and international conferences.

She has recently founded an Oesophageal Physiology Lab that offers Manometry and ph Testing in her rooms at John Flynn Medical Centre.    Oesophageal manometry is a precise diagnostic test that measures the pressure and coordination of muscle contractions in the oesophagus. This helps in diagnosing various oesophageal motility disorders, such as Achalasia, Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) among others.   

She is an active member of the Royal Australian Navy Reserves.  Her pursuits outside of surgery include an affinity for the ocean and riding her motorbike.
