Dr Chitrakanti 'Raj' Kapadia

Dr Chitrakanti 'Raj' Kapadia was born in Seychelles and raised in Nigeria, India, and the UK. After graduating from Westminster Medical School he continued his general surgical training in various centres across England, and including research at Harvard University, USA.  Dr Kapadia became a Consultant General Surgeon in Airedale, Yorkshire.  He retired early from the NHS and moved to Australia in 2011.  He was the Director of Surgery in Mt Isa before moving to Rockhampton in 2016 where he worked as a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Rockhampton Base Hospital until 2022.

Throughout Dr Kapadia's career, his prinicpal interests have been in gastrointestinal surgery, in particular colorectal surgery, where he became involved in the developmet of laparoscopic surgery in 1990.  Dr Kapadia went onto preceptor and teach laporoscopic colorectal surgery to consultant colorectal surgeons in the UK.

Dr Kapaida commenced private practice in 2022 as a General Surgeon with a particular interest in colorectal surgery with vast experience in laparoscopic biliary and hernia surgery. He is also accredited in upper and lower GI endoscopies.
