Dr Chris Wilkes is a General Paediatrician with interests across paediatric medicine, encompassing newborn care, management of both acute and chronic medical conditions, developmental issues, and mental health. He is passionate about ensuring that all children and their families have access to the highest quality paediatric care.
Dr Wilkes attended medical school at Cambridge University and King's College London in the UK, later completing his specialist paediatric training in New Zealand, where he achieved Fellowship status in 2024. He recently relocated to Brisbane with his family. Driven by a longstanding interest in global health, Dr Wilkes pursued a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at Liverpool University and gained international experience working in research and medical education in Malaysia and Laos, as well as traveling extensively throughout Asia and the Americas. His published research contributions include paediatric pneumonia, malaria, tuberculosis, and rickettsial diseases.
Throughout his paediatric career, Dr Wilkes has worked alongside both paediatric mental health and general paediatric subspecialty teams, recognizing the crucial interplay between physical and psychological aspects of health. His approach is child and family-centered, focusing on building strong relationships with his patients and their families. He collaborates closely with them and other healthcare providers to create individualized treatment plans that cater to each child’s unique needs and strengths.
Dr Wilkes is committed to keeping abreast of the latest advancements in paediatric medicine, ensuring that his patients benefit from the most current, evidence-based treatments. He values open communication and education, aiming to empower families to understand and support their child’s health confidently.
