About
Dr Christopher Steer is a Medical Oncologist who provides care for patients across the Albury/Wodonga region, including the community where he grew up. He has ongoing ties to the local area and provides cancer care within the regional setting.
Dr Steer completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and undertook specialist physician training in medical oncology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He also completed a clinical research fellowship in medical oncology and haematology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College London, where he developed clinical interests in gynaecological cancers and the care of older adults with cancer.
Since returning to the region in 2003, Dr Steer has worked in both clinical practice and research. He collaborates with patients, their families, and referring doctors in the development of treatment plans and ongoing care.
Dr Steer has a clinical interest in the management of cancer in older adults and is involved in clinical research and education. He holds an academic appointment as an Associate Professor with the UNSW Rural Clinical School.
Dr Steer provides care as part of a multidisciplinary approach, with an emphasis on communication, care planning, and supportive care throughout treatment.
