About

Dr Chou has significant experience managing advanced and multi-organ endometriosis, including disease affecting the bowel, bladder, ureters, diaphragm, and sciatic nerve. He is one of the few gynaecologists in Australia with a dedicated interest in Neuropelveology—an advanced subspecialty focused on disorders of the pelvic nerves—and holds ISON Level 3 certification, reflecting a high level of expertise in this field.

As Director of Sydney Women’s Endosurgery Centre, Dr Chou is actively involved in surgical training, mentoring, and research, ensuring patients benefit from the latest advances in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. He is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and a Visiting Medical Officer at St George Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women, St George Private Hospital, and Hurstville Private Hospital.

Dr Chou is the highest volume benign gynaecological robotic surgeon and serves as a proctor across all three major surgical robotic platforms — da Vinci, Versius, and HUGO.

Areas of Sub-Specialty/Special Interests:

  • Advanced laparoscopic and robotic gynaecological surgery (Sydney)
  • Severe and complex endometriosis, including:

1. Bowel endometriosis. Dr Chou developed a minimally invasive technique called “Sydney Shaving” to safely remove
endometriosis from the surface of the bowel while preserving bowel function. This approach is designed to reduce recovery
time and avoid more extensive bowel surgery where appropriate.
