Dr David Ma is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon dedicated exclusively to surgery of the hand and wrist. His philosophy recognizes that just as no two fingerprints are alike, no two patients' needs are identical. Having completed fellowship training across all three major Sydney hand units - Sydney, Royal North Shore and Fairfield Hand Units - Dr Ma brings diverse expertise and contemporary surgical techniques in Hand Surgery.
Dr David Ma's path to becoming a hand specialist began with graduating at the top of his class from the University of New South Wales. Driven by a focus on the upper limb, he pursued the PFET hand sub-specialisation with the Australian Hand Surgery Society. Beyond his comprehensive surgical training, Dr Ma holds dual Masters qualifications in Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) and Surgery (Edinburgh), reflecting his dedication to research-informed practice. Dr Ma has also completed specialized training in microsurgery in Singapore and advanced wrist arthroscopy in Hong Kong with internationally recognized surgeons. He has volunteered extensively in Myanmar, teaching hand surgery techniques with Prof. Bruce Conolly who established the first Hand Unit in Sydney.
