Dr Deepali Poels is a Sydney-based General Surgeon with an interest in oncoplastic breast surgery. She holds Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and is a full member of BreastSurgANZ. Her surgical area of interest is oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, providing breast cancer patients with the benefit of combining safe oncological outcomes and the best possible aesthetic results. She is also proficient in keyhole surgery for abdominal wall hernia repair, gall bladder and appendix surgery.
Dr Poels is deeply committed to patient-centred care, ensuring every individual feels truly heard, informed, and supported throughout their breast health journey.
Dr Poels completed prestigious subspecialty breast surgery fellowships at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse (Sydney), Westmead Hospital, and Eastern Health (Melbourne). She currently serves as a Staff Specialist in Acute Surgery and Trauma Care at Liverpool Hospital, managing complex emergency cases alongside her breast surgery practice. She is an active surgical educator, supervising and mentoring the next generation of surgeons in high-acuity settings.
Her research contributions include publications on surgeon-performed vacuum-assisted breast biopsy for benign and B3 lesions (World J Surg, 2025) and indocyanine green fluorescence-guided axillary procedures (ANZ J Surg, 2025), reflecting her commitment to evidence-based, innovative practice.
