About
Dr Sankhesara is extensively trained in contemporary and advanced techniques in percutaneous coronary angioplasty and stenting, intracoronary imaging, metal free angioplasty (drug coated balloon angioplasty) and advanced coronary physiology assessment (testing for angina with normal coronary arteries). He also has considerable experience in managing patients with advanced heart failure, gained during his rotation with the State Cardiac Transplant Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
During his fellowship, Dr Sankhesara has presented at major cardiology conferences and has been an investigator in major clinical trials such as RESTORE-MI, PUFFBALL Study, Multivessel TALENT Study and Selution De Novo Study.
Education
Graduating in Medicine in India in 2006, Dr Sankhesara moved to Perth, completing a master’s degree in health administration in 2010. Since then, he has worked at all major academic hospitals across WA and completed cardiology training in 2021.
He completed fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Royal Perth Hospital (2022), followed by a further fellowship at Sheffield Teaching Hospital Trusts, UK (2023) with special focus on complex coronary intervention and chronic total occlusion (CTO).
