Dr Frank Howes

Dr Howes is the Principle Surgeon and Director of the Eye & Laser Centre Gold Coast. Dr Howes is a widely known Specialist Ophthalmologist offering cataract and refractive surgery as well as in glaucoma surgery. He has introduced many new highly successful surgical procedures to Queensland and the wider Ophthalmic community including Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), iStent for glaucoma, SmILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) for refractive surgery and new intra-ocular lens types for cataract surgery. He has contributed to various ophthalmic text books in fields of cataract surgery and glaucoma and has lectured widely on these subjects. He contributes to teaching at UQ, QUT and Bond Universities and reviews submitted academic papers for 4 different peer reviewed journals. Dr Howes has lead a number of ophthalmic units in his career and continues to lead research projects in his current unit.

Dr Howes is dedicated to quality, state of the art, ophthalmic service delivery.

Dr Howes is also an avid sportsman having represented his country in sport.
