Graduated from Dunedin Medical School, Otago University in New Zealand in 1998. Worked as a junior house officer and registrar in a third world healthcare setting overseas for almost a decade before returning to New Zealand to further train in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and was conferred Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in January 2015.Trained and CCRTGE (Australia and New Zealand)-certified in diagnostic and interventional Gastrointestinal endoscopy and small bowel Capsule Endoscopy. Completed almost 3 years of fellowship in Clinical Research, Endoscpic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography/ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound/EUS at Manchester Royal Infirmary, United Kingdom. Enrolled in Master Degree (Research) with the University of Manchester, United Kindgom; thesis entitled "Microbiome dysbiosis and biomarkers in severe acute pancreatitis".
