Dr Thompson graduated from Medicine at University NSW with 1st Class Honours, followed by accredited training in General Urology and Cancer Surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
He completed a PhD in cancer research at UNSW then undertook an IMGSS Fellowship via The Royal College of Surgeons UK (Ed) at University College London Hospital. Here he trained in robotic bladder and prostate surgery in the highest volume pelvic cancer centre in the UK (one of the largest in the world). He received the prestigious honour of being appointed as a consultant robotic surgeon at UCLH, where he worked until 2018 when he returned to Sydney to bring his unique, sub-specialised skillset in prostate and bladder cancer surgery to the NSW community.
