About

Dr Jazlyn Read is a specialist Dermatologist and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She is accredited to perform Mohs Micrographic Surgery, a procedure she now offers at Noosa Private Hospital, where she provides the only Mohs Surgery service on the Sunshine Coast.

Mohs Surgery is the gold standard for treating non-melanoma skin cancers. The procedure involves precise removal of the tumour, without excising a margin of ‘normal’ skin, followed by immediate microscopic assessment of 100% of the tumour’s margin. This technique ensures the highest cure rates while preserving healthy tissue and minimizing scarring. Mohs surgery is most commonly used for tumours on the head and neck, especially in delicate areas such as the eyelids, nose, ears, and lips.

Dr Read graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2009, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2013. She completed her residency at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, during which time she also obtained a Master of Philosophy. Her thesis, "Familial Melanoma Risk Genes in Queensland", received the prestigious Dean’s Award for Outstanding Higher Degree by Research Theses from the University of Queensland.

Before specialising in Dermatology, Dr Read developed her surgical skills as a Plastic Surgery registrar in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2016, and then spent two years as a Plastic Surgery Principal House Officer in Queensland in 2017 and 2018.  This surgical background paved the way for her transition into Dermatology with a focus on surgical procedures.

Dr Read completed her Dermatology training in Queensland, with positions at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Queensland Institute of Dermatology, and Princess Alexandra Hospital. In addition to her comprehensive Dermatology training, she pursued further subspeciality training and earned a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery in April 2024.

Dr Read works collaboratively with local General Practitioners, Dermatologists, and Surgeons to achieve optimal patient outcomes, focusing on both form and function.
