About
Dr Jerry Vongphanit is the medical director of Toronto Eye Surgery. He is an ophthalmic surgeon and is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).
Dr Vongphanit completed his medical qualifications at Sydney University and his Master of Medicine at the University of Sydney where he conducted research in diseases of the retina as part of the Blue Mountains Eye study. The results of these studies were published in large international ophthalmic journals.
Dr Jerry Vongphanit spent several years working in general medicine in public hospitals before embarking on his ophthalmic career. He completed his ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital where he trained through the different subspecialties throughout metropolitan Sydney and regional New South Wales.
Dr Vongphanit teaches ophthalmology to medical students from the University of Newcastle and cataract surgery to ophthalmic trainees from Sydney Eye Hospital. He has experience in surgery for cataracts and has performed over 7000 cases in his career.
He performs glaucoma lasers and surgeries, eyelid surgery, tear duct surgery and pterygium removal using a sutureless technique. He gives eye injection for macular degeneration, diabetes and retinal venous occlusions.
Dr Vongphanit operates at Warners Bay Private Hospital, Pittwater Day Surgery and Chatswood Private Hospital. He consults in Mona Vale and Toronto.
