Upon graduating from the University of Queensland, Dr Burke worked and trained at leading hospitals in Queensland, primarily based at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). He commenced Nephrology Advanced Training on the Sunshine Coast, and went on to complete a Transplantation Nephrology Fellowship with the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Following this he has worked as a consultant nephrologist in Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand.
Dr Burke returned back to the Sunshine Coast in 2025 as a consultant nephrologist and now services both publicly and privately. He admits inpatients to SCUPH and has a private clinic at the SCUPH sessional suites. His professional interests include chronic kidney disease, transplantation, kidney stone prevention, hypertension, glomerulonephritis and dialysis.
