Kay is accredited as a clinical haematologist as well as a haematopathologist after completing her clinical haematology and laboratory haematology training at The Alfred Hospital and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne.
In 2016, Kay went to Canada and did a year of thrombosis fellowship (clinical and research) at Vancouver General Hospital. After returning to Melbourne in 2017, she worked at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre as a haematology fellow.
In December 2017, Kay joined the haematology oncology specialist group at Peninsula Private Hospital. She also works as a consultant haematologist at Frankston Public Hospital and Monash Medical Centre.
