Dr Mayooran Veerasingham MBBS (Hons), MD (O&G), FRANZCOG, AFRACMA
Senior Consultant Gynaecologist & Advanced Laparoscopic and Pelvic floor Surgeon and Ex Clinical Director Ipswich Hospital.
Dr Mayooran Veerasingham is a highly experienced Gynaecologist with over 25 years of clinical and surgical expertise. He graduated with first class honours from the Colombo Medical Faculty (Sri Lanka) in 1998 and completed his initial postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before relocating to Australia in 2007 for advanced specialist training.
He began his Australian career as a registrar at Hervey Bay Hospital before moving to The Northern Hospital in Melbourne as a Senior Registrar, where he developed a strong interest in Urogynaecology and minimally invasive pelvic surgery. He achieved his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 2010.
In 2010, Dr Veerasingham commenced as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Hervey Bay Hospital, where he established the Laparoscopic Hysterectomy service. Since 2015, he has been a Senior Consultant at Ipswich Hospital, where he has been instrumental in expanding urodynamics and advanced laparoscopic gynaecology services. He is widely recognised for his commitment to teaching, having trained numerous registrars and proctored colleagues in complex laparoscopy and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
Dr Veerasingham is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Queensland and leads several research projects at Ipswich Hospital. Since 2017, he has served as the Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, overseeing service development, quality improvement and education across the department.
In addition to his public and private hospital work, Dr Veerasingham will provide fertility care through “The fertility Centre” a branch of Queensland Fertility Group (QFG), offering comprehensive IVF and reproductive medicine services. He is also currently undertaking advanced training in robotic-assisted gynaecological surgery, enabling him to expand minimally invasive surgical options for his patients in the near future.
Known for his warm, empathetic and approachable manner, Dr Veerasingham manages the full spectrum of gynaecological concerns—from abnormal Pap smears and menstrual disorders to complex prolapse and incontinence surgery. His procedural skills include urodynamics, cystoscopy, Botox for overactive bladder, and advanced laparoscopic surgery including laparoscopic hysterectomy and Myomectomy.
