Dr Md Sazzad Zayad Chowdhury

Dr Chowdhury is a highly experienced and compassionate consiltant haematologist, currently serving at Goulburn Valley Health Shepparton. He is expanding his practice to the Private Sector and will be consulting from rooms at Shepparton Private Hospital.
With over nine years of specialist practice across Bangladesh, Brunei and Australia, he brings vast experience in both benign and malignant blood disorders along with advanced skills in bone marrow transplantation.
Dr Chowdhury achieved his MD in Haematology in 2017 at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University - Bangladesh's leading university hospital and national referral centre. He then worked in Bangladesh and Brunei performing bone marrow diagnostics, managing clotting and bleeding disorders, contributing to decision making and providing advanced haematology care. He also worked extensively in a bone marrow transplant unit.
Since March 2024, Dr Chowdhury has been proudly serving the community in regional Victoria with GV Health.  His day-to-day work ranges from treating common conditions such as anaemia and clotting problems to managing complex blood cancers including leukemia,, lymphoma, and myeloma.  He regularly performs bone marrow biopsies and personalizes management plans to ensure each patient receives the best possible care.
Outside the clinic, he is passionate about research and education.  His published work includes studies on rare blood disorders, improvements in acute leukemia treatment and the links between blood diseases and other health conditions.  Above all, Dr Chowdhury is committed to combining up-to-date and evidence-based medicine with kindness and empathy - supporting his patients through every stage of their journey.
