About
Dr Michael Devadas is a highly experienced general surgeon with a focus on upper gastrointestinal and bariatric (weight-loss) surgery. He provides advanced care for obesity, reflux, hernias, and oesophagogastric cancer.
He leads public bariatric surgery programs and serves as Director of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Deputy Head of General Surgery at Norwest Private Hospital.
Dr Devadas is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, actively involved in research and education. His work in obesity and oesophageal disease has been published in leading medical journals and recognised with national and international awards.
He has pioneered key surgical advancements, including NSW’s first publicly funded bariatric surgery program and the first thoracoscopic oesophagectomy at Nepean Hospital. Dr Devadas continues to mentor surgeons and contribute to surgical education both locally and internationally.
