Dr Michael Hogden

Michael has an interest in retinal surgery with training in the medical and surgical management of disorders of the vitreous, retina and macula. He completed specialist ophthalmic surgical training in Queensland, including a year as Senior Registrar at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, before undertaking further Fellowship training in medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery at the Oxford Eye Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital, respectively. Michael has also pursued additional international retinal training at Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York, and the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University in New York. He was awarded a RANZCO Overseas Scholarship to support his Fellowship training in the United Kingdom and North America.

Dr Hogden holds a public appointment as specialist ophthalmologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. In these academic posts he is involved in training Ophthalmology registrars and medical students and is involved in clinical research.

Dr Hogden consults at Cairns Eye and Laser Centre in Cairns and Terrace Eye Centre in Brisbane.  Michael will be performing retinal surgery at Ramsay Surgical Centre Cairns.
