About
Dr Michael Ng is a general surgeon with an interest in endocrine (thyroid and parathyroid) surgery.
Michael is an Australian trained specialist general surgeon offering a vast range of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He was born in Leeds, UK and grew up in Malaysia before moving to Victoria, Australia as a teenager. After completing school at Melbourne High School, Michael proceeded to complete his medical degree at the University of Melbourne. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2012 by completing his postgraduate surgical training via the Austin Hospital, Western Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospitals.
Michael was immediately recruited into consultant practice and has served as a general surgeon in Ballarat and its surrounding regions since 2012. He is particularly passionate about supporting regional communities, striving to deliver meticulous and superior surgical outcomes for his patients. In addition to his regional work, Michael now also practises in the Mount Waverley area, extending his expertise to patients in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Across both metropolitan and regional settings, he works collaboratively with teams of endocrinologists, oncologists, and other medical specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes—especially for complex cases. He firmly believes that the highest quality surgery is achieved through close collaboration with fellow health professionals and hospital staff who share a commitment to patient-centred care.
