Dr Mirun Thayaparan

Dr Mirun Thayaparan is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty interests in robotic hip and knee arthroplasty, and foot and ankle surgery.

After completing his medical degree at the University of Western Sydney in 2011, Dr Thayaparan undertook junior doctor training in hospitals across New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory. In 2023, he completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology (with Distinction) through the University of Newcastle. In 2025, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedics) (FRACS (Orth)) and Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA).

To further develop his clinical expertise, Dr Thayaparan completed a fellowship in robotic hip and knee arthroplasty at various hospitals including The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. In 2026, he was selected for the inaugural Brisbane Foot and Ankle Fellowship, where he trained with experienced foot and ankle surgeons across multiple hospital sites.

Dr Thayaparan is committed to education and contributes to the training of future Orthopaedic Surgeons through Clinical Associate Lecturer appointments with Adelaide University and Flinders University. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his young family.
