About
Dr Mitchell Gooch is a General Surgeon with subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, treating a wide range of general and colorectal surgical conditions. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and General Surgeons Australia (GSA) and is accredited by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) for gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Mitchell became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2020 and then worked for two years in Port Macquarie as the Acute Surgical Unit Fellow followed by a further two years of subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery. He has completed a Master of Surgery with the University of Sydney in 2022. He also holds a position as Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Newcastle (2023-2024) and previously at the University of New South Wales (2021-2022).
He performs minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic procedures and treats colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, haemorrhoids, anal fistulas, gallbladder disease, groin hernias, umbilical hernias, and incisional hernias
